The Windmills of Your Mind - Les moulins de mon coeur (Videos & Info)

Source: wikipedia

"The Windmills of Your Mind" is a song with music by French composer Michel Legrand and English lyrics written by Americans Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman. The French lyrics, under the title "Les moulins de mon cœur", were written by Eddy Marnay. The song (with the English lyrics) was used as the theme for the 1968 film, The Thomas Crown Affair.[1] The opening two melodic sentences were borrowed from Mozart's second movement from his Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra, K. 364. In the original 1968 film the song was performed by Noel Harrison who took the song to #8 in the UK Singles Chart. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1968.[1] A version by Sting was used in the 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Dusty Springfield's version of the song from her album Dusty in Memphis is also well known; this version reached #31 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and #3 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart in 1969.[2] This recording also appeared on the soundtrack to Breakfast on Pluto (2006). Sam & Dave are members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and are Grammy Award and multiple gold record award winning artists. According to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Sam & Dave were the most successful soul duo, and brought the sounds of the black gospel church to pop music with their call-and-response records. Recorded primarily at Stax Records in Memphis, Tennessee, from 1965 through 1968, these included "Soul Man", "Hold On, I'm Comin", "I Thank You", "When Something is Wrong with My Baby", "Wrap It Up", and many other Southern Soul classics. "Soul Man" was a number one Pop Hit (Cashbox: November 11, 1967) and has been recognized as one of the most influential songs of the past 50 years by the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone magazine, and RIAA Songs of the Century. "Soul Man" was featured as the soundtrack and title for a 1986 film and also a 1997–1998 television series, and Soul Men was a 2008 feature film.. read more

 Lyrics:

I can't stand to see you sad
I can't bear to hear you cry
If you can't tell me what you need
All I can do is wonder why

Someday, someway aww
Someday, someway, yeah now
Someday, someway
Maybe I'll understand you

After all you've done for me
All I really want to do
Is take the love you brought my way
And give it all right back to you

Someday, someway
Someday, someway yeah yeah
Someday, someway
Maybe you'll understand me

You've taken everything from me
I've taken everything from you
I'll love you for my whole life through
Now after all you've done for me
All I really want to do
Is take the love you brought my way
And give it all right back to you

Someday, someway aww
Someday, someway, yeah now
Someday, someway maybe you'll understand me
You've taken everything from me
I've taken everything from you
I'll love you for my whole life through

I can't stand to see you sad
I can't bear to hear you cry
If you can't tell me what you need
All I can do is wonder why
